Furnaces

The winter months in Canada can be frigid but that doesn’t mean you can’t be warm and comfortable in your home. Let A Village Fireplace Shop show you how a Tappan high efficiency furnace can provide unparalleled comfort and energy savings. With an available 10-year warranty and the Tappan Pledge of Quality, you are buying a furnace that will withstand any harsh weather our Canadian winters can dole out!

If it’s service on your heating equipment that is required, Schedule a Repair online for a time that suits you.

Don’t forget the rebates available with the purchase and installation of a high efficient furnace. Additional incentives are available to you exclusively through A Village Fireplace Shop if you take advantage of our Referral Club.

A Village Fireplace Shop is committed to helping you to conserve energy and save money. With ever rising heating costs and the fact that a significant portion of energy costs are dedicated to home heating, here are a few things (in addition to upgrading your heating system to a high efficient unit installed by A Village Fireplace Shop!) to do in order to help curb your heating costs:

  • Draftproof
Up to 50% of heat is lost in households due to poor insulation and draftproofing. Use draft door brushes where possible and plug any cracks with approved foam products. You might be surprised how often these gaps occur. To test, light a candle in each room and watch how the flame flutters to trace down sources of drafts.
  • Draw the curtains
A lot of heat is lost through windows. Drawing the curtains provides an insulating layer which helps prevent this, and can save you real money in the longer term.
  • Use the furnace, not the fire
Central heating is much more efficient than a fire: gas, open, electric...most of the heat goes up the chimney!
  • Only use central heating when & where you need it
Close that vent in the guest room (unless there are guests, of course!) or utility room. If an area of your home isn't used frequently it really doesn't need heating!
  • Install a Programmable Thermostat
Sorry but your Mom and Dad were right on this one – it makes sense to throw on a sweater if you feel a slight chill. With a 1° reduction on the thermostat saving you up to 10% on your heating bill, it's well worth it!
