The history of Napoleon is an incredible journey that all began in Barrie, Ontario with a small steel fabrication business. In 1976, Wolf Steel Ltd. – which was founded by Wolfgang Schroeter – began to manufacture steel railings. Little did they know of the profound changes that would lie ahead!
Over 30 years ago, the fabrication of the first wood stove took place. By 1981, the first single glass door with Pyroceram (high temperature ceramic glass) was manufactured. Along with this new product, came a new name: “Napoleon.” As the years progressed, Napoleon’s products became exceedingly popular throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe.
Today, Napoleon employs over a thousand people and occupies a manufacturing area of over 1.2 million square feet. It is an ISO9001 – 2008 registered company and is acknowledged as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. Additionally, Napoleon is the largest privately owned manufacturer of heating and cooling products, outdoor living products, quality wood and gas fireplaces (inserts and stoves), and gourmet gas and charcoal grills.
