Earlier this year I attended Village Fireplace about a new gas fireplace insert. The blower on my old gas fireplace was seized and 30 years old. I saw 2 different fireplaces in the showroom. I took pictures of both and waited for the two quotes,

Even though both quotes were extremely high I went with the Napoleon on the right at about $7300.00 installed with tax. VERY expensive but I thought I'm supporting a Canadian fireplace producer and a smaller local company to install. Remember, hydro, gas line, chimney were already there so this was a pretty easy install.

The installers were top notch but when they said they were done, the light gray trim piece wasn't there. I showed him the picture of the fireplace in the showroom I'd been quoted on. He came back later and installed the trim piece.

I paid half the invoice up front by cheque (Village Fireplace charges extra if using a credit card) and the balance after the installation. When I paid the balance of the invoice I commented that the fireplace hardly provided any heat and I was very disappointed with the unit. (I'm heating a closed 16 foot by 10 foot main floor family room}. The response from Village Fireplace…..( I'm sorry to hear that'"} Nothing about what could they do to fix the problem.

Now more issues. Multiple calls from Village Fireplace saying they forgot to include the trim piece on the original quote and now I owe another $500.00. If had had received a quote of almost $8000.00 initially I never would have bought it.

I have no intention of giving Village Fireplace any more money. If they would like to refund my purchase price I would be more than happy to let them take the non performing fireplace unit back and I will deal with a more reputable company.”
